The Gospel Is Free—But It Costs
If Jesus paid it all, why should Christians give money to support ministry?
Follow the biblical pattern from God’s provision for the Levites, to those who supported Jesus and His disciples, to Paul’s teaching on material support for spiritual labour.

Follow the Context Trail
A verse is part of a passage, a conversation and a larger biblical story. Here is how we follow the trail.
Start With the Verse
What does the passage actually say?
Read Around It
What comes before and after? Who is speaking—and to whom?
Follow the Biblical Thread
Where else does Scripture address the same principle?
Separate Text From Assumption
What is explicit, inferred, interpreted or disputed?
Context doesn’t weaken Scripture. It helps us hear what Scripture is actually saying.
The Verse Everyone Quotes
“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”Philippians 4:19
But have you read verses 15–18? 👀
Paul pronounced this blessing immediately after describing how the Philippian church had repeatedly supported his ministry.
The promise is beautiful. Its context makes it richer.

How We Approach Scripture
Strong convictions and careful study belong together. We clearly distinguish the text from the conclusions we draw from it.
What Scripture Says
Statements directly and explicitly supported by the biblical text.
What the Evidence Suggests
Conclusions reasonably inferred from the passage and its setting.
Interpretation
Theological conclusions drawn from the available evidence.
Where Readers Disagree
Questions on which sincere readers or traditions reach different conclusions.
We aren’t afraid of difficult passages, competing interpretations or questions without easy answers. The goal isn’t to force Scripture to support what we already believe. The goal is to understand Scripture as faithfully as we can.
